THE LAKE
We are currently working on a dance piece for performance inspired by the legend of
the Lady of the Lake from the Arthurian stories with an intergenerational company of
dancers aged early 20s to mid 60s, which includes students from the University of West
London who are expanding their professional practice and dance experience through this
project. The piece is being created and rehearsed over the Summer under the guidance of
Bryony and Elizabeth, and we are exploring what the imagery and meaning of this legend
suggests to us through the mediums of dance, voice, music, cloth and lighting.
We are now looking for a venue to perform the piece in early September.
We would then like to expand this work into ongoing courses and classes focused through
creative choreography.
Workshops/Classes
We can offer sessions on request, based on the themes and imagery from this dance
piece.
The sessions will be facilitated by Bryony Williams, currently teaching dance/movement at
the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and Elizabeth Allerston, who is Head of Dance
at Reading College. They are the creative Directors of SpiralArts.
The sessions will include:
- A SpiralDance class
- A taught choreographed sequence from the dance piece
- Time for creative exploration on the themes in the piece
- Close down and time for discussion and questions.
